Murphy Ransom and Leigh Skinner study the geometrical intricacies of a rectangular table surface located in the basement of the Graham Memorial Student Union, on the UNC campus. Judging from the clock on the wall (4 p.m.), this photo must have been taken just after high school let out for the day. We can only surmise their endeavors were probably part of an Advanced Placement Physics or Math course offered during after-school hours by UNC.
