Blast From The Past

Mrs. Wade’s Sixth Grade Class
As well as I can recall, from left to right, starting with the front row first: Billy White, Ann Fitch, Bobby Schreiber, Lawrence London, Bobby Costello, and Charles Ray Pritchard. Second Row: Mr. Hughes (the practice teacher), Johnny Foushee, Chips Weaver, Ramsey Green, John Hall, Elizabeth Green in front of them, then Iva Lou Brooks, Anthony Ballenger, and of course, Mrs. Wade. The last row gets tougher — behind Foushee is mystery girl (marilyn someone?), another mystery girl, Beth Harris, Barbara O’Neal, Karen Magnuson, Virginia Jones, and Julie Demareth.
There, you have it — the best I can do. So anyone that can help with name spellings, eliminate the question marks or identify the mysteries, please do! That was one of the first photos I took with my Brownie Hawkeye so I’m not in the picture. I’m just glad I still have the photo to share with you!
Incidentally, I had the privilege of attending an open house at Mrs. Wade’s home on Gimghoul Road a year ago in April, on the occasion of her 91st birthday. She lives with her twin sister and they both are still sharper than us. The flowers and azeleas surrounding their house are simply indescribable — so I’ll dig out some photos I took there and make an album for everyone to see.

DEJA VU
With more box-digging, there’s now a second version of the picture. Julie Demerath is now visible as the last row, rightmost. A “new” mystery girl added herself to the picture, just behind Mrs. Wade. I’m betting it’s Phyllis Kidder — any guesses? And of course Charles Ray Pritchard is being his usual well-behaved self in the front row next to Mrs. Wade.

For a change, I’m in this picture (top row left) so I don’t know who took it. Just your average bunch of monkeys hanging around the Jungle Jim at recess, I guess.
